From balloons to balls (footballs!), there are over two dozen festivals to enjoy this weekend in Ohio. Several of the more well-known events include the Dublin Irish Festival, the Vintage Ohio Wine Festival, the Twins Day Festival, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival in Canton, the Millersburg Sweet Corn Festival, and this is the last weekend for the Ohio State Fair.
Coming from a very Irish family and growing up near the city of Dublin, Ohio, the Dublin Irish Festival is an event that I look forward to every year. I remember when I was a little girl, watching the step dancers and wishing that I could kick, step and twirl in sequence the way they do. It’s truly an astonishing sight. (Not to mention, I love their dresses and ringlet hair.) As I’ve grown older, my activity choices have changed a bit, but the Irish Fest is still as fun and spirited.
Although I am Irish, I will admit that bagpipes have never been for me. Luckily, the Irish Festival has music of all kinds (including Celtic Rock) and an extensive list of attractions including culture, food, sports, art, shopping and more.
This year is the 25th Anniversary of the Dublin Irish Festival and it has grown to draw a crowd of more than 100,000 people!
The Dublin Irish Festival isn’t the only thing kickin’ this weekend.
Visit Kirtland, Ohio where the annual festival of Ohio wines will celebrate its 18th year at Lake Metroparks Farmpark. Vintage Ohio is a highly acclaimed gathering of 30,000 wine and food lovers and is perfect for any couple needing a reprieve, or a girls weekend full of spirits. With dozens of restaurants and wineries participating, you won’t want to miss this chance to sample and meet the makers. Before you leave, don’t forget to hit the carry out store to buy bottles of your favorite samples!
Perhaps the most intriguing of events this weekend is the Twins Day Festival. This is a truly unique festival with remarkable similarities. Twins Day is the largest gathering of twins in the world! Every year, more than 2,000 sets of twins, triplets and multiples gather in Twinsburg for the Double Take Parade, live entertainment, fireworks and more. (Non-multiples welcome.) This celebration of twins, triplets and other multiples is sure to have you seeing double!
Grab your family and friends and travel to one of Ohio's fun festivals this weekend!
